Description

Cherry blossom Openwork Exclusive Tsuba NBTHK Edo Period.

Edo period, preserved sword fittings, paulownia wood box
Iron carving, gold cloth inlay, spade leftover edge, hair carving, double hole.

The certificate says it is a cherry blossom openwork.
Coloring is full of elaborate movements that you can only see if you look closely. First of all, the tips of the cherry blossom petals are inlaid with gold cloth and some kind of flower. There are also traces of fabric inlay in the fan-rib-like areas on both sides. And in the area that is one level lower, there are file marks of fabric, likely for inlay, on top of which gold flakes have been scattered and a pine-leaf-like pattern has been carved. The file marks for the fabric inlay can be seen in various places. It appears to be a work of quite delicate craftsmanship.
In mine opinion a nice piece of art in wonderful condition with fine details.
